These terms apply to your use of pressassociation.org and to membership in The National Press Association (“NPA,” “we”). By using the site or applying for membership, you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy and Code of Ethics.
Information only, not legal advice
Our guides and pages are general information. They are not legal advice, and reading them does not create an attorney-client relationship. We work to keep them accurate and show our sources, but laws and agency policies change and differ by place. Check the source, and speak with a licensed attorney about your situation.
Membership
- Applying for NPA membership is free.
- An NPA membership is a private association credential. It is not issued by any government agency. It does not give you legal rights, does not guarantee access to any event, scene or location, and does not give parking or police-line privileges. Agencies, venues and organizers decide who they admit.
- You are responsible for your own lawful conduct, including following lawful instructions from police and property owners, and for following the Code of Ethics.
- We may decline an application, or suspend or end a membership, including for misusing the membership or credentials, giving false information, or violating the Code of Ethics.
Printed press kit and other paid items
The NPA offers an optional printed press kit. Terms such as price, renewal and refunds are shown when you order and form part of your order.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the site or your membership for anything unlawful;
- present NPA membership as a government credential or imply that it gives you police, government or parking authority;
- submit false or misleading information in an application;
- interfere with the site or try to access it in ways we have not allowed.
